Role Description The Transportation Operations Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Detroit, MI. This position oversees daily transportation operations, including dispatching, routing, and scheduling to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of freight. The role manages driver and fleet performance, monitors compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, and addresses operational issues as they arise. The Transportation Operations Manager collaborates with internal teams and customers to resolve service concerns, optimize lane utilization, and improve overall efficiency. The role also includes analyzing operational data, implementing process improvements, and supporting company goals for growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in Transportation Operations and Transportation Management to oversee daily trucking activities and fleet performance.
- Proficiency in Operations Management and Supply Chain Management to optimize routing, scheduling, and resource utilization.
- Demonstrated Customer Service skills to manage client relationships, resolve service issues, and support a high level of satisfaction.
- Experience in supervising transportation staff, including drivers and dispatch personnel, with a focus on safety and compliance.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations, trucking industry standards, and transportation management systems (TMS).
- Ability to analyze operational metrics, identify trends, and implement practical process improvements.
- Effective communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Relevant education such as an associate or bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
