Wagner Technical Services, Inc. is seeking an experienced OSP Fiber Design / Construction Specialist to support broadband and communications infrastructure projects.

Wagner Technical Services is a New York-based electric utility design and field services firm with more than 30 years of experience in distribution design, joint-use make-ready, field surveys, pole replacements, permitting support, and utility coordination.

We are looking for a fiber professional. The ideal candidate will have strong practical knowledge of outside plant fiber design, including both aerial and underground fiber construction, fiber materials, FTTH/FTTx design, and field constructability. Experience with construction management or contractor coordination is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

Design and review aerial and underground OSP fiber routes
Develop construction-ready fiber design packages
Support FTTH, FTTx, middle-mile, distribution, and lateral fiber projects
Assist with PON splitter architecture, fiber distribution, splice planning, and material selection
Review and specify OSP materials such as cable, strand, conduit, innerduct, handholes, vaults, pedestals, terminals, splitter cabinets, and splice closures
Coordinate fiber design with electric utility facilities, joint-use pole lines, underground routes, and ROW constraints
Support permitting, utility attachment applications, contractor coordination, field changes, redlines, and as-built documentation
Provide guidance on MDU fiber design, including building point of entry, MPOE/demarcation planning, telecom rooms, riser pathways, fiber termination/NID locations, ONT placement, and service delivery to individual units

Qualifications

Significant experience in OSP fiber design, fiber construction, or broadband deployment
Strong understanding of aerial and underground fiber construction methods and materials
Familiarity with FTTH/FTTx and PON network design
Ability to produce or review accurate, constructible design packages
Knowledge of joint-use pole environments, NESC clearances, utility standards, and permitting requirements
Experience coordinating with utilities, contractors, municipalities, property owners, and internal project teams
Strong communication skills and ability to work independently as a fiber subject-matter expert

Experience with tools such as Katapult, IKE, O-Calc, PoleForeman, AutoCAD, GIS platforms, Vetro, 3-GIS, IQGeo, ArcGIS, or similar systems is a plus.
