Job Summary
The Transportation & Logistics Analyst II is responsible for supporting the company's global transportation and distribution network through freight audit and payment management, transportation analytics, carrier performance management, strategic sourcing support, and logistics cost optimization. This role requires hands-on experience across domestic parcel, international air freight, ocean freight, LTL, and FTL transportation modes, as well as a working knowledge of warehousing and global distribution operations.
The Analyst serves as the primary owner of freight spend visibility, invoice auditing, transportation reporting, supplier performance measurement, and logistics sourcing analytics. The role partners closely with Transportation, Distribution, Finance, Procurement, and external logistics providers to identify savings opportunities, improve service performance, ensure invoice accuracy, and support strategic transportation initiatives.
This position supports a global transportation and distribution network spanning multiple regions, carriers, and logistics service providers. The successful candidate must be available during standard business hours and demonstrate flexibility to occasionally support meetings, projects, supplier reviews, and operational activities outside normal working hours to accommodate global stakeholders and regional time zone differences.
The role requires regular collaboration with teams and suppliers across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America, necessitating strong communication skills and the ability to operate effectively in a global business environment.
Occasional domestic and international travel may be required to support supplier meetings, transportation and distribution projects, operational assessments, Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), strategic sourcing initiatives, and industry events.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage freight audit and payment processes, including invoice validation, discrepancy resolution, accessorial review, and recovery of billing errors across parcel, air, ocean, LTL, and FTL providers.
- Analyze transportation spend, shipment activity, and network performance to identify cost reduction opportunities, service improvements, and process efficiencies.
- Develop and maintain transportation dashboards, KPIs, supplier scorecards, and executive reporting for logistics performance management.
- Monitor carrier service levels, transit performance, claims activity, invoice accuracy, and contractual compliance.
- Support transportation sourcing initiatives by gathering requirements, analyzing shipment data, developing bid packages, normalizing carrier proposals, conducting scenario analysis, and providing award recommendations.
- Participate in transportation and logistics RFPs, utilizing industry best practices and analytical methodologies to drive competitive sourcing outcomes.
- Build total cost models, freight savings analyses, and budget forecasts while reconciling transportation spend with Finance.
- Conduct benchmarking and market analysis for parcel, air freight, ocean freight, LTL, FTL, warehousing, and distribution services.
- Support carrier negotiations through data-driven insights, cost modeling, and market intelligence.
- Prepare supplier scorecards, Quarterly Business Review (QBR) materials, and performance summaries for logistics providers.
- Identify and track transportation cost drivers, contractual compliance issues, and network optimization opportunities.
- Monitor carrier contract expirations, utilization trends, and supplier performance to proactively identify sourcing opportunities and risk mitigation strategies.
- Maintain transportation data integrity, reporting standards, and audit-ready documentation.
- Support warehousing and global distribution initiatives through data analysis, inventory flow reporting, and logistics network performance measurement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Finance, Analytics, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain analytics, freight audit, carrier management, or related field.
- Demonstrated experience managing or analyzing domestic parcel, international air freight, ocean freight, LTL, and FTL transportation.
- Working knowledge of warehousing, distribution, and global supply chain operations.
- Experience conducting transportation or logistics RFPs and supporting sourcing events utilizing industry best practices.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar business intelligence tools.
- Experience developing supplier scorecards, KPI reporting, and QBR presentations.
- Understanding of transportation contracts, rate structures, accessorial charges, and freight billing processes.
- Ability to analyze large datasets and translate findings into actionable business recommendations.
- Strong communication skills with experience interacting with carriers, freight forwarders, 3PLs, and internal stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within medical device, healthcare, manufacturing, or highly regulated industries preferred.
- Experience supporting global transportation networks and international trade operations.
- Familiarity with parcel carrier agreements, air freight service contracts, procurement best practices.
