The Logistics Manager is responsible for ensuring that all shipments are handled efficiently, safely, and cost-effectively while maintaining high service levels. This role oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of transportation activities from production sites to end customers, manages local packaging operations, and leads the logistics team to optimize resources, inventory, and transportation costs.
Key Responsibilities
Logistics Operations & Transportation Management
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise shipments from production facilities to end users, including inland transportation activities.
- Schedule and optimize daily and weekly transportation routes.
- Manage site logistics planning activities to ensure timely and efficient product movement.
- Track and monitor orders using logistics and ERP systems (SAP, BI-P44, and other relevant platforms).
- Coordinate deliveries from ports to warehouses in collaboration with freight forwarders and shipping lines.
- Monitor upcoming arrivals and ensure all shipping and customs documentation is complete and accurate.
- Minimize detention and demurrage (D&D) costs through proactive shipment planning and follow-up.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, transportation regulations, and shipping legislation.
Cost Control & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor, analyze, and report transportation and logistics costs.
- Review and validate freight invoices, including inland and ocean transportation charges.
- Research, evaluate, and implement cost-effective shipping and packaging solutions.
- Identify opportunities to improve logistics efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service performance.
Inventory & Packaging Management
- Oversee inventory control processes and supervise stock movements.
- Manage local packaging operations and ensure packaging standards are maintained.
- Support warehouse activities to ensure inventory accuracy and operational efficiency.
Team Leadership & Resource Planning
- Supervise and develop the Logistics Team, including Logistics Technicians and Logistics Operators.
- Determine daily staffing requirements and coordinate the use of permanent and temporary personnel.
- Maximize workforce productivity through effective planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Provide training, coaching, and performance management to logistics staff.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience as a Logistics Manager, Transportation Manager, Shipping Manager, or in a similar logistics leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of supply chain and logistics management principles.
- Experience with order management, shipment tracking, and transportation planning.
- Familiarity with logistics and ERP software systems, including SAP and transportation management platforms.
- Experience managing freight forwarding, import/export logistics, and port operations is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
