Role Description The Transportation Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in the Washington DC–Baltimore area. This position oversees daily transportation operations, including route planning, driver scheduling, and dispatch to ensure timely and accurate deliveries. The Transportation Manager monitors fleet utilization, vehicle readiness, and driver performance while maintaining compliance with safety regulations and company policies. This role collaborates closely with warehouse, sales, and customer service teams to resolve delivery issues, respond to service inquiries, and improve overall efficiency. The Transportation Manager is also responsible for tracking key performance indicators, managing transportation costs, coaching team members, and driving continuous process improvements.
Qualifications
- Strong Operations Management skills, including planning, organizing, and optimizing delivery routes and schedules.
- Proven Transportation Management experience with knowledge of DOT rules, safety standards, and logistics best practices.
- Excellent Customer Service and Communication skills to address delivery concerns, coordinate with internal teams, and maintain professional relationships.
- Hands-on Fleet Management experience, including vehicle maintenance coordination, inspections, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Ability to lead and develop a diverse team of drivers and support staff with a focus on safety and accountability.
- Experience using transportation or route optimization software and basic proficiency in MS Office or similar tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, or a related field is required.
- Prior experience in food or beverage distribution, or similar high-volume delivery environments, is an advantage.
