Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Polk City, IA, for a Firefighter. The Firefighter will be responsible for responding to emergency calls, including fire suppression, rescues, and medical emergencies. Additional responsibilities include operating and maintaining firefighting and emergency response equipment, conducting safety inspections, and engaging in fire prevention and community education activities. The individual in this role will also participate in ongoing training exercises to maintain skills and readiness.
Qualifications
- Knowledge in fire suppression techniques, safety protocols, and equipment operation
- Proficiency in emergency medical response and basic life-saving techniques
- Ability to effectively communicate and work as part of a team in high-stress situations
- Physical fitness and stamina to handle demanding conditions and challenging environments
- Basic mechanical aptitude to perform equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
- High school diploma or equivalent is required
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet driving requirements
- Firefighter certification and EMT certification (or ability to obtain as required by the department)
- Commitment to ethical conduct, professionalism, and public service
- Previous firefighting or emergency response experience is a plus but not mandatory
