EMS Provider - Part Time
- Seeking reliable, team-oriented EMS provider at EMT level or higher.
- Basic/Provisional Advanced EMT service, approximately 360 calls/year.
- 911 transport service; no IFTs. Occasional mutual aid and 911 response to neighboring service areas are possible.
- Max. 30 hrs/week average, paid bi-weekly.
- 12-hr. shifts with no on-call requirement. Additional on-call hours optional.
- Weekend/Holiday hours may be required.
- Payrate determined by level and experience.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years experience preferred at EMT level or higher. Must be able to assume role of lead crew member as necessary.
- Current Iowa EMS license.
- Valid Iowa Driver's License with clean driving record.
- Pass criminal history background check.
- Current BLS or ACLS certification through the AHA.
- Current Adult and Child Mandatory Reporter certificates.
- Incident Command (4), START Triage, Harassment, HIPAA, Bloodborne Pathogens all required within 6 weeks of hire; Traffic Incident Management course completion within 3 months.
- Hazardous materials - proof of attendance within the past 12 months.
- EMS-I, BLS/ACLS, PALS instructor endorsements desired but not required.
Skills
- Scene assessment, medical and trauma assessment, develop treatment plans, trauma management/bleeding control; competent medication administration within scope of practice. Make sound transport decisions in the best interest of the patient.
- Ability to make quick decisions for safe scene management and sound clinical judgement for effective patient care and patient advocacy.
- Competency in BLS/ACLS, AED, and LUCAS use, airway management, oxygen therapy, spinal immobilization, suctioning, patient packaging and lifting.
- Complete PCRs within required timeframe using DCHART/CHART format and ensure HIPAA compliance. Deliver to receiving facility as required.
- Work collaboratively with dispatch, law enforcement, fire personnel, and other EMS agencies.
- Communicate effectively with medical personnel at receiving facilities to arrange for reception and transfer of patient care.
Job Details
- Perform competent emergency care to sick and injured patients, adhering to State of Iowa and Wright County Clinical Guidelines.
- Perform general inspection of vehicles and minor maintenance as necessary.
- Assist with supply inventory, restocking and reordering.
- Support county-wide EMS efforts, collaborating with other agencies to host annual EMS conference, set up and assist with crew training and skills evaluations.
- Represent the service with professionalism and integrity and assist with community events and education.
Work Environment
- Crews consist of full, part-time, and volunteer EMS/drivers.
- Private sleep rooms, bathroom with shower, kitchen facility, washer/dryer all in-house; secure building shared with police department. Off-street parking.
- CEHs provided through online learning platforms, simulation, and in-person sessions.
- Monthly crew meetings with training or skills review.
Pay: $800.00 - $2,000.00 per month
