Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Terminal Manager to lead operations at a high-volume logistics hub in California. This is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of a fast-paced, multi-shift transportation and warehouse operation. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong experience in LTL consolidation and high-throughput freight environments, capable of driving operational excellence, safety, and efficiency across a large and dynamic team.
Responsibilities:
- Lead all terminal operations in a high-volume environment. This includes load booking, load planning, cross-docking, freight flows, warehousing, LTL consolidation, linehaul coordination, shipping, receiving and all administrative functions thereof.
- Supervise, assess, and develop warehouse staff, dispatchers, load planners, CSR, and other multi-shift operational teams on a day-to-day basis.
- Optimize the use of drivers, trailers, equipment, and dock capacity to support continuous freight movement
- Ensure all billings are completed in a timely basis, including all extra charges (assessorial fees) related to wait times, bonds, lumpers, etc.
- Ensure full compliance with DOT regulations, OSHA standards, and internal safety policies.
- Drive a strong safety culture through proactive leadership, coaching, audits, and incident prevention.
- Monitor and improve key performance indicators (KPIs), including productivity, cost per shipment, damage rates, and service levels.
- Resolve real-time operational disruptions, bottlenecks, and service issues in a high-pressure environment.
- Oversee staffing strategy, scheduling, labor planning, and peak volume management.
- Lead employee development, training, performance management, and succession planning.
- Collaborate with HR on hiring, retention, payroll issues, and employee relations.
- Continuously identify process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and service level agreements (SLAs)
- Communicate and present comprehensive reports on a continuous basis to the executive team located in Canada. Develop action plans to improve results and follow through with execution on a timely basis.
- Review technology, data, and data gaps to ensure TMS/WMS systems are being optimized and staff efficiency is being maximized.
- Create a safe working environment for all personnel. Carry out safety policies and procedures in a consistent manner. Respond to driver and warehouse personnel concerns about safety, dispatching, equipment and grievances.

Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in a terminal or transportation management role.
- Willingness to “roll up your sleeves” and “do what it takes” to get the job done.
- Strong background in high-volume logistics, freight, LTD consolidation, or distribution. center operations
- Proven leadership experience managing large, multi-shift teams.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and safety compliance.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure operational environment.
- Effective communication and leadership skills with a hands-on management style.
- A true passion for the transportation and logistics industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and warehouse/transportation management systems
- Ability to perform under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
