Position Summary
Responsible for property operation, utilities management and capital investment projects for the Biltmore Hotel as directed by the managing director. This position requires consistent adherence to department policies/procedures as outlined in the Biltmore Standard Operating Procedures (BSOP’s).
Responsibilities
- Direct and supervise all Repair and Maintenance activities, including but not limited to building envelop, grounds, common areas, F&B outlets, kitchen, guest rooms, golf buildings, and back of the house.
- Capital Investments Projects Management duties and Cost Control for any project such as room renovations and additions or modifications to existing assets among others.
- Interact with consultants on different fields related to Capital Investment Projects.
- Interact with City of Coral Gables officials on permits process and inspections compliance.
- Prepare Bidding Documents and subsequent Capital Investment Budgets.
- Prepare and monitor annual budget for Engineering department including all salaries and benefits, operating expenses, capital needs and relevant P&L-reports.
- Establish and maintain a complete preventive maintenance program for Guest Rooms and equipment, including program incorporation into the facilities management software package tracking the work order system and scheduled maintenance needs.
- Follow purchasing procedures for all inventory needs and maintain the required physical inventory pursuant to the maintenance program and an allowance for unanticipated emergencies.
- Perform any other duties as required by Management and/or Ownership.
Requirements
Experience and Education Required
- Education - Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Technical School is preferred
- Experience - Minimum ten (10) years of experience in facilities management in a luxury hotel

- Adapt to moderate temperatures in the hotel as thermostats are controlled by the hotel environmental systems.

To perform this job successfully the incumbent will possess the abilities/aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently. The employee will actively follow The Biltmore Hotel policies including Equal Opportunities policies and will maintain an awareness and observation of Fire and Health & Safety Regulations.
Additionally, due to the nature of the hospitality industry the incumbent may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel that may include overtime, weekends and holidays. The employee will carry out any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job as requested by the managing-director and/or ownership.
