Supply Chain Director

Chompshop is a fast-growing education and toy startup creating tools that help kids become inventors and problem-solvers. This is a foundational hire that will shape how we source, move, and deliver products as we scale.
About the Role
We're looking for a hands-on Director of Supply Chain to own our supply chain operations, from purchase orders and inventory management to 3PL relationships, compliance, and shipping optimization. You'll be equally comfortable building strategy and getting into the details. This role reports directly to the CEO and is a critical part of our leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory & Purchasing
- Manage inventory levels across all SKUs to prevent stockouts and minimize overstock
- Place, track, and manage all purchase orders from creation through receipt
- Build and maintain demand forecasting models using historical sales data and forward-looking inputs
- Lead seasonal inventory planning in close collaboration with marketing and finance
Partner & 3PL Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all 3PL and fulfillment partners
- Onboard new partners: developing scorecards, SLAs, and integration workflows
- Conduct regular performance reviews with partners and hold them accountable to KPIs
- Travel to warehouses and distribution centers to build relationships and identify operational gaps
Compliance & Documentation
- Organize and maintain all compliance documentation (certs, customs, labeling, product compliance)
- Stay ahead of import/export regulations, tariff changes, and retailer compliance requirements
- Build and maintain SOPs for every key supply chain workflow
Freight & Cost Optimization
- Own relationships with freight brokers and carriers; negotiate rates proactively
- Monitor shipment timelines and intervene early when delays are at risk
- Audit freight invoices and identify billing errors or overcharges
- Identify consolidation and routing opportunities to reduce per-unit shipping costs
Strategy & Continuous Improvement
- Build dashboards and reporting to give leadership real-time visibility into inventory health, lead times, and costs
- Develop risk mitigation plans for supply disruptions, single-source suppliers, and geopolitical exposures
- Evaluate and implement supply chain tools (WMS, TMS, ERP integrations) as we scale
- Partner with finance on cash flow planning tied to PO payment schedules and inventory cycles
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of supply chain, logistics, or operations experience, ideally in consumer goods & e-commerce
- Proven experience managing 3PLs, freight partners, and overseas suppliers
- Strong command of inventory management, demand planning, and PO workflows
- Experience with compliance documentation and import/export regulations
- Data-driven mindset: comfortable building models in Excel/Sheets and working toward more sophisticated tooling
- Excellent communicator who can hold partners accountable while maintaining strong relationships
- Willingness to travel to warehouse and distribution sites as needed
- Startup or high-growth company experience strongly preferred - you're comfortable with ambiguity and building from scratch
Bonus Points
- Experience with Shopify, Amazon Seller Central, Walmart Marketplace, ShipHero, ShipBob
- Experience with international freight and customs brokerage
- Familiarity with retailer compliance programs (EDI, routing guides, chargebacks)
- Prior experience evaluating or implementing ERP or WMS systems
- Background in sustainable sourcing or packaging initiatives
Compensation
- Base salary: $145,000 – $180,000, commensurate with experience
