Job Description
AECOM Technical Services, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer in Detroit, MI.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design HVAC and plumbing for all building types including laboratories, clean rooms, healthcare, and hightech clients
- Design custom solutions for unique projects
- Interact with other engineers and develop calculations, construction drawings, and design reports under the supervision of a Senior Engineer
- Demonstrate critical thinking to quickly recognize issues and be part of the solution
- Participate in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables
- Perform quality control review of design calculations or drawings
- Prepare technical specification sections
- Provide input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements
- Provide technical support and mentoring to junior engineers
- Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days per week
- 7% domestic travel required
Qualifications
Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field of study and 4 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer, Engineer, or in a related occupation.
Alternatively, the employer will accept a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field and 2 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer, Engineer, or in a related occupation.
Position requires experience in the following:
- Utilizing ASHRAE standards and building codes
- Analyzing and developing layouts of HVAC systems for buildings
- Professional Engineer (PE) Licensure
- REVIT
- CAD
- load calculation software
- MS Excel
- Construction phase experience, including submittal reviews, on-site inspections, RFIs, and change orders
- Plumbing and Medical Gas design experience for hospitals and labs
