Position OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented Transportation Coordinator to manage and execute daily trucking operations across multiple branches. This role is responsible for coordinating shipments, securing carrier capacity, and ensuring timely, cost-effective movement of freight. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with drayage, LTL, FTL, and partial shipments, and thrives in a fast-paced logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate and manage daily freight movements, including drayage, LTL, FTL, and partial shipments
- Source, book, and dispatch carriers to ensure on-time pickup and delivery
- Track and trace shipments, providing proactive updates to internal teams and customers
- Communicate with carriers, drivers, and branch teams to resolve issues and ensure service reliability
- Prepare and manage rate quotes in alignment with market conditions and company margins
- Vet, onboard, and maintain compliant carrier records (insurance, authority, safety ratings)
- Upload and manage documentation, including PODs and carrier invoices; ensure accurate cost entry in internal systems
- Collaborate with Air, Ocean, and Warehouse teams to support multimodal and time-sensitive shipments
- Monitor capacity trends and assist in securing trucks based on regional availability
- Utilize load boards (e.g., DAT, Truckstop) and TMS platforms to post, cover, and manage freight
Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3–5+ years of experience in transportation, dispatching, or logistics coordination
- Strong knowledge of drayage, LTL, FTL, and partial shipment execution
- Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency with load boards, carrier management tools, and transportation management systems (TMS)
- Solid understanding of logistics terminology and industry practices
- Ability to problem-solve and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
- High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and cost tracking
Preferred Skills- Experience within a freight forwarding or brokerage environment
- Working knowledge of container port operations, rail ramps, and airport logistics
- Established network of carrier relationships across multiple modes
