Job Summary:
The Sr. Electrical Systems Manufacturing Engineer role supports the transition of new products into operations and resolves technical issues for products currently in production. The position works closely with Manufacturing Engineering and Product Engineering teams to release new products and support existing ones through process, design, and manufacturability improvements. The role also provides guidance on design concepts and specification requirements to ensure optimal use of manufacturing methods and equipment.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Solve design level problems with engineering support as required.
- Take ownership of product/processes and give technical direction to Technicians.
- Work hands on with the production floor team solving system problems as needed.
- Analyze design issues and offer solutions when transitioning a new product, and determine and develop the method, operations sequence and tooling of new and existing infrared products.
- Review, comment and sign-off on new product designs and adapt design changes for manufacturing implementation.
- Assist in the transition of products from Design to Production ensuring Design for Manufacturability is considered.
- Daily production floor support on complex electro-mechanical assemblies.
- Work with vendors and process assembly documentation issues.
- Participate in the review and approval of all Engineering Change Orders (ECO's) for products being supported.
- Liaison with Engineering to maintain knowledge of new developments as they pertain to future products and processes.
- Review product flow and processes and develop changes to improve manufacturability.
- Maintain records for coordination of manufacturing operations.
- Estimate manufacturing costs and time standards.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Electrical Engineering.
- 8+ years of experience in electro-mechanical manufacturing and technical support.
- Project experience from design release to transfer to manufacturing.
- New Product Introduction (NPI) experience a plus.
- Experience with optical-based products, portable instruments and/or infrared technology strongly preferred
- Strong computer and interpersonal skills.
