Job Description
We are seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Fleet Manager to oversee our vehicle operations. You will be responsible for the entire life cycle of our assets, from procurement to maintenance and disposal. Your goals are to ensure that we have our fleet positioned to meet customer requirements, fleet reliability, minimize costs, ensure full regulatory compliance, and leverage technology to keep our fleet running at peak efficiency. Our fleet consists of approximately 300 high lift catering trucks and 60 support vehicles located at multiple plants across the USA.
Essential Functions
- Fleet planning: Review and help prepare unit scheduling charts to evaluate fleet requirements to guide procurement needs and ensure maximum vehicle utilization across the organization.
- Monitor utilization and recommend redeployment to other units if needed
- Fleet procurement: Lead the fleet procurement process, including setting vehicle specifications in cooperation with the Chief Operating Officer and General Managers, obtaining quotes from vendors, vehicle selection, coordinating the internal approval process, vendor negotiations and coordinating delivery.
- Life cycle cost management: Total life cycle cost analysis to optimize Flying Food Group’s fleet investment, including acquisition cost / capital investment, the oversight of fleet maintenance, optimal replace time, etc.
- Maintenance: Develop and oversee preventative maintenance programs and support units with emergency repairs to minimize downtime, reliability and to ensure safety.
- Technology: Enhance operational efficiency by adopting and implementing the latest available technology, e.g. safety technology, telematics, GPS tracking, etc.
- Safety: Support the safety team with the implementation of fleet safety programs, driver training protocols, etc.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, state, local/city and airport regulations governing truck operations and registrations.
- Administrative coordinate: Manage, coordinate and/or perform all administrative processes and workflow around the fleet, e.g. maintaining a fleet database, vehicle registrations, title management with financing providers, insurance (with support of risk management), etc.
- Support the Chief Operating Officer and obtain his approval for actions to be taken as this role’s main internal client.
- Establish fleet management KPI’s and Reporting
- Ad hoc reports, tasks and management support, as assigned from time to time by the SVP – Finance & Administration.
Skills and Qualifications
- BS Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- NAFA or AEMP certification preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years’ fleet management and last mile logistics experience required.
- Strong understanding of fleet management principles, vehicle maintenance, DOT regulations, etc. required.
- Proficiency with data analytics, reporting and administrative processes required.
- Experience with developing and implementing new company wide processes.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
- Ability to balance immediate operational needs with long-term operational and financial goals.
- Must have Organizational Skills, be Detail Orientated and be able to Multitask.
- Excellent Communication skills, both written and oral required.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibility.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional food manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time exempt position in a 24/7/365 work environment.
Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
