Vice President of Information Technology
Greater Chicago Area (Hybrid)
We are seeking a Vice President of Information Technology to lead and evolve our IT function within a privately held, financially strong, global organization. This is a high-impact leadership role in a collaborative, low-ego environment where technology is a critical driver of business performance.
This opportunity is best suited for a leader who enjoys staying close to the work—balancing strategic direction with hands-on engagement across systems, infrastructure, and applications.
About the Role
As Vice President of IT, you will lead a lean, high-performing team and oversee all aspects of IT, including enterprise systems (ERP), infrastructure, cybersecurity, and custom applications. You will partner closely with executive leadership to support ongoing operations while identifying opportunities to modernize systems, improve processes, and introduce new capabilities.
This is a player-coach role—ideal for someone who prefers building, solving, and engaging directly with their team, rather than operating at a distance. This is not a heavily layered IT organization; success in this role requires comfort operating in a hands-on, highly engaged environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a collaborative IT team across infrastructure, ERP, and application development
- Own and optimize enterprise systems, including ERP and integrated applications
- Provide hands-on leadership in troubleshooting, system improvements, and technical decision-making
- Partner with business leaders to align IT initiatives with operational priorities
- Drive continuous improvement across systems, processes, and service delivery
- Evaluate and implement modernization initiatives (e.g., cloud strategy, automation)
- Oversee cybersecurity, data integrity, and system reliability
- Manage vendors and external partners as needed
What We’re Looking For
- 12–15+ years of progressive IT leadership experience
- Experience in a mid-market environment (manufacturing, distribution, or similar operational setting preferred)
- Strong background in ERP systems and enterprise applications
- Proven ability to operate in a hands-on, player-coach capacity
- Comfortable working within a lean team structure
- Experience partnering closely with cross-functional business leaders
- Ability to balance day-to-day execution with longer-term system improvements
- Exposure to automation, data initiatives, or emerging technologies is a plus
Leadership Profile
- Low ego, highly collaborative, and team-oriented
- Willing to roll up sleeves and engage directly in technical and operational work
- Practical, solutions-oriented, and adaptable
- Strong communicator across technical and non-technical audiences
Why This Opportunity
- Privately held organization with strong financial stability
- Technology is viewed as a strategic enabler, not just a support function
- Opportunity to shape the next phase of IT evolution and modernization
- Highly collaborative culture with strong leadership alignment
- Hybrid work environment in the Greater Chicago area
Compensation
- Competitive compensation package
- Comprehensive benefits package
If you are a hands-on IT leader who enjoys building, improving, and partnering closely with the business, we encourage you to apply.
