Engineering Manager | CA
The Engineering Manager oversees the Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering functions, ensuring effective resource allocation, project prioritization, and team development. This role supports cross‑functional collaboration with production, quality, sales, and test operations while driving continuous improvement initiatives aligned with organizational objectives. The position centers on engineering within the aerospace and defense sector, specifically the development of advanced thermal components and systems.
Key responsibilities include leading New Product Introduction (NPI) efforts, managing project risk, guiding technical reviews, supporting customer engagements, and ensuring compliance with applicable quality and safety standards. The Engineering Manager also provides full personnel oversight, including hiring, mentoring, performance management, and fostering career growth within the engineering team.
Job Requirements
- Lead, supervise, and develop engineering staff to ensure efficient daily operations.
- Oversee the design, analysis, testing, and manufacturing processes for high‑technology thermal systems used in aerospace and defence applications.
- Manage engineering resources, establish priorities, and support all phases of NPI programs.
- Coordinate effectively with internal teams, external stakeholders, and customers; deliver technical presentations and project updates.
- Plan and execute projects to meet cost, schedule, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Promote best practices in design for manufacturability and assembly (DFMA).
- Identify technical risks and implement mitigation strategies while assessing cross‑departmental impacts.
- Lead hiring, onboarding, and training efforts within the engineering team.
- Handle administrative tasks such as timecards, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
- Track and communicate departmental metrics to leadership.
- Drive continuous improvement and implement updated processes and procedures.
- Participate in proposal development, including cost and resource planning.
- Support material review board (MRB) activities and corrective‑action efforts for design‑related nonconformances.
- Assist with customer visits, technical discussions, and new business activities.
- Ensure compliance with established quality systems and organizational standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 5-8 years of experience leading technical or engineering teams.
- 2-3 years of experience with project or program management preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and proven leadership abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, project‑management tools, and CAD platforms such as SolidWorks.
- Experience with machining, fabrication, or metal‑joining processes preferred.
- Familiarity with aerospace and defense quality standards (e.g., AS9100) and relevant military specifications preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
