We are seeking a Vice President of Mechanical Engineering Design to lead mechanical design across a growing data center portfolio. This role drives strategy, standards, and execution to deliver high-performance, reliable, and cost-efficient systems for mission critical facilities. You’ll partner with executive leadership, internal teams, and external partners to ensure designs support both construction and long-term operations.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and implement mechanical design strategy across multiple data center projects, aligning with business goals and delivery timelines
- Oversee end-to-end mechanical design efforts, ensuring systems meet performance, reliability, scalability, and sustainability requirements
- Review and approve engineering designs, specifications, and calculations to ensure technical accuracy and consistency
- Collaborate closely with construction, commissioning, and operations teams to ensure designs support long-term performance and maintainability
- Monitor project progress, proactively identify risks, and drive solutions to stay on schedule and within budget
- Lead value engineering initiatives to optimize cost while maintaining system reliability and quality
- Build, mentor, and manage internal engineering teams while coordinating external consultants and partners
- Establish and enforce design standards, KPIs, and quality control processes across all projects
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and industry best practices
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and engineering partners, including negotiating scopes and contracts
- Drive continuous improvement by adopting new technologies, improving processes, and enhancing overall design efficiency
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (required)
- PE license (required)
- 10+ years of mechanical design experience
- Strong background in construction or engineering operations
- Data center and mission critical project experience (required)
