Job Title: Chemical Process Engineering Manager

Overview
An advanced technology organization is seeking a Chemical Process Engineering Manager to oversee the Chemical Process Systems group within a first-of-its-kind industrial facility. This role combines technical leadership, project oversight, and team development, ensuring engineering excellence, regulatory compliance, and successful execution of complex chemical process systems.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
- Manage a team of technical contributors across process systems including chemical generation, extraction, and purification
- Conduct regular team meetings to review goals, performance metrics, and provide project updates
- Provide coaching, feedback, and professional development opportunities for team members
- Participate in hiring and onboarding, ensuring alignment with technical and organizational expectations
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, including Procurement, Construction, and other Engineering groups
Technical Oversight
- Own and update technical safety documentation and specifications for chemical process systems
- Ensure engineering documents meet technical and procedural compliance requirements and align with project goals
- Represent engineering in compliance and quality tracking meetings
- Provide subject-matter expertise and training for new hires and temporary personnel
Project & Schedule Management
- Develop and maintain project schedules, including key milestones and work tasks
- Conduct periodic reviews of schedule tasks to identify gaps and optimize timelines
- Collaborate with Project Controls to maintain updated schedule activities in tools such as Primavera P6
Decision Making
- Drive team-level decision-making and risk-based technical decisions
- Align team priorities with organizational objectives and communicate critical decisions to leadership
Continuous Improvement
- Incorporate feedback from management to improve team performance
- Remove roadblocks to ensure team success and maintain operational efficiency
Chemical Process Engineering Manager qualifications:
Required:
- PhD in Chemical Engineering or related field, or 15+ years of experience in chemical engineering, preferably in extraction, purification, or similar processes
- Proven subject-matter expertise across diverse chemical process systems
- Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and licensing basis requirements
Preferred:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Leadership and mentoring experience
- Experience with schedule planning tools (e.g., Primavera P6)
- Familiarity with document approval processes and procedural audits
- Ability to work effectively with peers and stakeholders
