Our client is seeking an IT Director Fully Onsite in Tampa, FL.
The Director of Information Technology (“DIT”) serves as the sole, internal IT leader of this single-family office (“SFO”) located in Tampa, FL. This role encompasses planning, execution, and administration of IT applications, infrastructure, and operational processes across a mix of on-premises, residential locations, and Microsoft 365 and Azure cloud services. These platforms form the foundation of our operations, and you will lead the charge in migrating the organization's IT infrastructure fully to the cloud—particularly Microsoft 365 and Azure—while securing, maintaining, and keeping it current. As the single IT employee, you will collaborate closely with 15
other SFO team members and you will select and oversee external IT partners and providers to augment capabilities as needed for specialized skills, variable demand, or cost efficiency. You will also directly work with the Founder at his multiple residential locations, handling everything from cellphone updates/iPhone apps to the computers, scanners and equipment per property. Site visits to properties will be required throughout each year on an as-needed basis depending upon Founder calendar. As our DIT, you will also be responsible for our 24/7 technology “Help Desk”, providing remote (and/or on site) responses to technology requests by both the SFO and the Founder.
Responsibilities
Strategy & Leadership

- Demonstrate strategic vision, anticipating future trends, and incorporating knowledge of successful information technology. Develop and nurture open communication with the CFO and other decision makers at the SFO, including, importantly, with the Founder/CEO.
- Ensure information technology alignment with organizational objectives.
- Maintain technical depth and breadth to establish technical direction and best practice, credibly leading team members and external partners on platforms, practices and processes. Work to educate and implement AI technology where & when possible, in conjunction with the goals of the SFO.
- Adept at developing best practices and cost effectively leveraging external resources, resulting in an enviable IT capability.
- Establish and maintain a cost-effective, high-quality stable of strategic external partners who provide specialized skills, scalability, and support to support you and the SFO when needed.
Infrastructure and Operations
- Drive the cultural and practice changes necessary to ensure governance and security.
- Develop and maintain a configuration change management solution and lead IT Change Management program to ensure efficient and reliable outcomes.
- Implement ITIL-based IT service management processes and tools and manage all related third-party services.
- Develop and manage proactive information technology and security monitoring capabilities to ensure security, reliability and performance.
- Lead in the development and implementation of IT infrastructure that exceeds stability, scalability, availability, and latency requirements for infrastructure and data/information systems, overseeing the full migration from managed service provider resources to cloud-based solutions.
- Develop and manage the OpEx / CapEx budgets. Keep up with annual/monthly licensing and subscription costs, adjusting for user changes when necessary.
- Identify major risk factors and implement appropriate practices to mitigate and remediate project, process, and system risks.
- 24/7 On Call availability for the CEO/Founder in relation to all technology questions and concerns.
Governance, Risk Management, Privacy and Security
- Formulate comprehensive strategies, outline roadmaps, and execute daily operations to proactively safeguard the firm’s data, systems, and intellectual property assets, evolving with the business needs, and including robust IT governance frameworks (e.g. NIST, ISO, Cobit), policies, procedures and solutions to facilitate efficient compliance with emerging personal privacy rules and regulations.
- Ensure proper information system governance and control, including definition of detailed requirements and test criteria, segregation of duties, rigorous, automated testing and change management.
- Analyze trends, news, and developments in threat and compliance environment relative to organizational risk. Advises and coordinates responses with management, developing and executing written plans for compliance and mitigation of risk.
- Understand potential threats, vulnerabilities, and control techniques and solicit security, risk and compliance self-assessments and periodic, independent third-party assessments and audits.
- Ensure comprehensive business continuity and incident recovery capabilities, including computer, storage, integration, network, communications, and related resources.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and periodically exercise (tabletop exercises and actual testing) business continuity and incident response plans.
- Investigate and remediate security breaches, as needed in collaboration with human resource and legal team members, employing external expertise and capacity as needed.
- Develop and maintain a security and risk awareness and training program, working with business units to facilitate risk assessment and management processes and to raise awareness of security and risk concerns.
Skills & Requirements
- 7+ years in senior IT leadership roles
- Experience as a sole IT leader or first IT hire is highly desirable
- Deep experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure
- Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, networking, security, and identity
- Experience supporting executive leadership in high-trust environments
