Position Summary
The Director of IT will play a critical role in implementing our technology strategy and operations in a highly regulated biotech/pharmaceutical environment. This role requires a hands-on leader who combines strategic vision with a willingness to roll up their sleeves and assist with day-to-day technical challenges. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with industry regulations while driving innovation, efficiency, and security across functions. The person is accountable for the delivery of technical solutions from technology evaluation, implementation to maintenance. The person will be involved in technical design, development, and documentation of solutions as needed and actively involved in system configuration and enhancement.
Main Responsibility Areas
- Implement and continuously improve Avalo Information Security program aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements (SOX, GxP, FDA, and other relevant regulatory standards). Ensure Avalo maintains a strong cyber posture, security first, and cyber aware culture.
- Ensure Avalo’s infrastructure and cloud computing are properly architecture and scaled to support Avalo’s growth. Assist setting up cloud applications, services, networks, and servers as required
- Manage infrastructure including Video/Audio conference systems, and data governance. Ensure infrastructure solutions are compliant with corporate policies/standards and relevant regulations.
- Ensure changes to Avalo Information Systems adhere to the regulatory and compliance requirement.
- Oversee secure endpoint configuration and management in collaboration with Managed Service Provider.
- Keep up-to-date with relevant technology supporting Avalo business to ensure fit-for-purpose, scalable technology implemented to support Avalo’s growth.
- Serve as the system owner and administrator of Avalo business systems ensure technology/systems properly managed and maintained. Partners with business owners ensure the proper control of system access and content management.
- Develop and configure solutions from conceptualization to stabilization using various computer platforms
- Provide direct assistance to end users for computer, network, communication and software issues.
Education & Experience
- Technical or science degrees
- 10+ years of progressive IT experience, including leadership roles in regulated biotech or pharmaceutical environments.
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity and compliance frameworks (e.g. NIST CSF, SOX, GxP).
- Expertise in Microsoft Azure, cloud architecture, and modern IT infrastructure.
- Experience with Data Privacy and Data Loss Prevention.
- Familiarity with AI technologies and their application in business processes.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and willingness to engage in hands-on technical support.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Onsite/Travel Requirement: The job requires communication with all employees during and after working hours as well as working with clients, contractors and other personnel. This position requires a minimum of three days onsite.
