VP / CIO – Technology & Enterprise Systems
Overview
A rapidly growing construction organization is seeking a VP / CIO – Technology & Enterprise Systems to lead the company’s next phase of digital transformation. This executive will report directly to the President and play a critical role in modernizing enterprise systems, implementing a scalable ERP platform, and building the data infrastructure necessary to support continued growth.
The company is transitioning from QuickBooks to an enterprise-grade ERP platform and needs a leader who has successfully guided organizations through similar transformations. This role is focused on enterprise systems strategy, ERP implementation, data architecture, and operational scalability, not traditional IT infrastructure management.
The ideal candidate operates at an executive level and can partner closely with finance, operations, and project leadership to ensure systems enable accurate job costing, reporting, and operational decision-making across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Systems & ERP Transformation
- Lead the evaluation, selection, and full implementation of a new enterprise ERP platform, replacing QuickBooks.
- Drive the company’s enterprise systems strategy, ensuring scalability for the next 3–5+ years of growth.
- Oversee ERP integrations across project management, payroll, job costing, financial reporting, and operational systems.
- Establish strong governance around data architecture, reporting, and system integrations.
Data Strategy & Operational Visibility
- Build scalable data and reporting infrastructure supporting:
- Job cost visibility
- WIP reporting
- Labor productivity metrics
- Financial forecasting and backlog tracking
- Develop executive dashboards enabling leadership to make real-time operational decisions.
Technology Leadership & Strategy
- Partner with the President, CFO, and Operations leadership to align technology initiatives with business growth.
- Lead enterprise technology roadmap planning and digital transformation initiatives.
- Drive adoption and change management across the organization during major system transitions.
Organizational Leadership
- Provide leadership to internal IT resources and external technology partners.
- Manage technology vendors, implementation partners, and strategic system providers.
- Ensure systems and technology infrastructure support multi-site operations and field-based teams.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a technology executive who has successfully led ERP modernization in a construction or contractor environment.
Experience
- 15+ years in technology leadership roles
- Experience at Director, VP, or CIO level
- Demonstrated success leading ERP selection, implementation, and enterprise systems transformation
- Background supporting construction, heavy civil, mechanical contracting, or industrial services organizations
Systems Experience
Experience with construction-focused systems such as:
- Viewpoint Vista
- Sage Construction / Sage 300 CRE
- CMiC
- Procore
- HCSS
- Trimble / construction tech ecosystems
Leadership Capabilities
- Executive-level communication and strategic leadership
- Experience partnering with finance and operations leaders
- Proven ability to lead change during enterprise system implementations
- Strong understanding of contractor business processes including job costing and project operations

Within the first 12–24 months, this leader will:
- Successfully guide the company through ERP platform selection and implementation
