LaBella Associates seeks an experienced environmental planner to join our Environmental Impact Group in New York City. The Environmental Impact Group at LaBella Associates provides environmental review, impact analysis, and planning services to a variety of agency, municipal, private, and utility clients in addition to serving internal LaBella divisions. Our team partners with public and private sector clients throughout the five boroughs to provide environmental planning, land use, and zoning expertise to support the use and development of land, to facilitate neighborhood revitalization, and to support mixed-use and affordable housing development and renewable energy projects.
The successful candidate will prepare environmental documents and related technical studies pursuant to City Environmental Quality Review ("CEQR"), the New York State Environmental Quality Review Act ("SEQRA"), the National Environmental Policy Act ("NEPA"), and other regulatory programs. The successful candidate will be self- motivated, collaborative, demonstrate strong project management skills, and have a passion for land development and community improvement.
Duties:
• Perform CEQR, SEQR , and NEPA reviews for land use and zoning actions, infrastructure and renewable energy projects, and affordable housing development projects.
• Evaluate potential environmental impacts of projects and associated mitigation measures.
• Prepare, review, and coordinate environmental documentation including Environmental Assessment Statements ("EAS"), Environmental Assessment Forms ("EAF"), Environmental Impact Statements ("EIS"), Technical Memoranda, and Findings Statements.
• Coordinate with lead and involved agencies to ensure procedural compliance.
• Collaborate closely with planners, engineers, architects, and attorneys on land use and environmental approvals processes.
• Lead or participate in public meetings and community engagement.
• Learn from senior project managers, track project milestones, and maintain accurate records within environmental review databases.
• Develop and nurture client relationships and prepare proposals.
Requirements
• Master's degree in Urban Planning, Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Public Policy, or a related field and at least five (5) years of relevant professional experience in environmental review, land use planning, or environmental analysis.
• Demonstrated experience with CEQR, SEQRA, and NEPA.
• Understanding of New York City zoning and land use procedures.
• Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proven analytical, organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously under strict deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
• AICP or on track to achieve certification .
• Familiarity with modeling tools and GIS applications.
Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000/year
The specific salary offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location.
