Job Summary
The Data Analysis Engineer is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting manufacturing and quality data to support process performance, decision-making, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role ensures data integrity, traceability, and compliance with ISO 9001 requirements, customer expectations, and Salcomp reporting standards. The position works closely with Quality, Engineering, IT, and Operations teams to deliver actionable insights that improve manufacturing performance and product quality.
Key Responsibilities1. Manufacturing & Quality Data Analysis
- Collect, validate, and analyze data from manufacturing processes, quality systems, and production equipment using systems such as SAP, MES, and cloud-based databases.
- Develop and execute SQL queries, scripts, and other data processing tools to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from multiple sources.
- Perform data analysis to identify trends, patterns, anomalies, and process variation.
- Develop dashboards, reports, and visualizations using tools such as Excel and Power BI.
- Generate and maintain reports for Quality and Engineering metrics including yield, scrap, rework, SPC, downtime, First Pass Yield (FPY), defect trends, customer complaints, and traceability data.
- Use statistical and analytical methods to identify process variability and support root cause analysis.
2. ISO 9001 Compliance Support
- Support ISO 9001 Clause 9.1 (Monitoring, Measurement, Analysis, and Evaluation) by ensuring the accuracy and reliability of performance data.
- Ensure data used for operational decision-making is controlled, traceable, and maintained according to documented procedures.
- Provide data analysis support for Management Reviews, internal audits, and external certification audits.
3. Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving
- Support continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies such as PDCA and data-driven problem solving.
- Conduct statistical analysis including SPC, capability studies, Pareto analysis, and trend analysis.
- Support root cause investigations related to nonconformities, production issues, and customer complaints.
- Identify opportunities to improve data processes, reporting systems, and analytics workflows.
- Optimize database queries, scripts, and system performance to improve efficiency and reliability.
4. Reporting & Visualization
- Design and maintain automated dashboards and reports using approved tools such as Excel, SQL, and Power BI.
- Translate complex datasets into clear, actionable insights for engineering, quality, and operations teams.
- Standardize reporting formats to ensure consistency across manufacturing lines and production shifts.
5. Data Integrity & Systems Support
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of manufacturing and quality data.
- Support data governance practices including access control, version control, and change management.
- Collaborate with IT and Engineering teams to support data extraction, system integration, and process automation.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Quality, Engineering, IT, and Operations teams to support data-driven decision-making.
- Support customer data requests and performance reporting requirements as directed by the Quality Manager.
- Provide guidance or training to stakeholders on interpreting data dashboards and reports.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Data Analytics, Statistics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in data analysis within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience supporting data analysis in an ISO 9001 certified manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel, SQL, Power BI, or similar analytics platforms.
- Knowledge of statistical methods including SPC, capability analysis, and trend analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Data Engineer or similar data engineering certification.
- Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst certification.
- Experience with manufacturing systems such as SAP or MES.
- Familiarity with statistical analysis tools and database management systems.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
Work may be performed in both office and manufacturing environments. The position may require extended periods of sitting, standing, or walking on the production floor. The use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required when entering production areas.
