Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director, Cloud Computing – IT, the IT Infrastructure Engineer – Server & Virtualization is responsible for leading the strategic planning, design, implementation, and lifecycle management of servers, storages, backup infrastructure and virtualization platforms such as VMware and Hyper-V across the organization. This role ensures high availability, performance, scalability, and security of compute environments, both cloud-hosted and on-premises data systems while aligning with business and compliance requirements. The candidate is also expected to manage the VDI and Microsoft 365 environments, and exposure to a mature operational AWS environment.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the Servers & Virtualized environments and various projects planning and execution in a similar domain. Selected candidate will take an active role in the ongoing migration of our on-premises/Azure infrastructure to the AWS cloud platform. This role requires a deep understanding of cloud computing, Azure/AWS services, and cloud migration strategies.
The ideal candidate should also possess strong communication, IT Technical, planning, process improvement, and strategic decision-making skills. A proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment will be required for success in this position.
Position Responsibilities:
- Server & Virtualization
- Architect, deploy, and Cree maintain VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V environments, including clusters, hosts, and virtual machines.
- Manage Windows Server infrastructure (2016/2019/2022), including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, SCCM, VDI, Group Policy and Microsoft 365 tenant
- Lead server provisioning, patching, and lifecycle management across physical and virtual environments.
- Monitor system performance and proactively resolve issues to ensure optimal uptime and resource utilization of servers & the virtual environments
- Drive automation to improve operational maturity in the Servers, Storage, Backup and Virtualization domains
- Manage cost optimization and vendor relationships
- Storage & Backup
- Collaborate with global teams to standardize server builds, backup strategies, and disaster recovery plans.
- Manage Storage solutions and Backup infrastructure
- Monitor system performance and proactively resolve issues to ensure optimal uptime and resource utilization of storages and backup infrastructure
- Documentation and Training
- Create and maintain detailed documentation of the procedures, configurations, and best practices. Provide training and support to internal teams on Compute platforms.
- Security & Compliance
- Ensure servers, storages, backup and virtualization platforms meet regulatory and internal security standards.
- Work with InfoSec to implement encryption, access controls, and audit mechanisms.
- Team Leadership
- Lead a team of Server & Storage Engineers and Operations staff.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Monitoring & Reporting
- Implement robust monitoring and alerting systems.
- Provide regular performance and capacity reports to leadership.
- Vendor Management
- Collaborate with vendors to ensure effective service delivery and cost optimization.
- Monitor SLA performance and drive continuous service delivery improvement.
- Negotiate contracts and maintain strong relationships with technology partners.
- Financial Management
- Develop operating expense and capital global budgets annually and monitor actuals to plan and reforecast monthly.
- Lead an ongoing cost reduction program to eliminate, consolidate, or renegotiate IT hardware, software, and services while improving IT services to our global business.
- Collaboration
- Work closely with other IT teams including Cyber Security, Applications Development, and the Project Management Office to deliver seamless services.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure alignment with business needs.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in IT Infrastructure systems engineering with a focus on virtualization and server infrastructure.
- Deep expertise in VMware vSphere (vCenter, ESXi) and Microsoft Hyper-V. Strong knowledge of Windows Server OS, Active Directory, SCCM, and PowerShell scripting.
- Experience in designing and maintaining an efficient cloud-based VDI platform
- Experience with enterprise backup solutions (e.g., Veritas NetBackup, Veeam)
- Familiarity with server hardware platforms (Dell, HPE) and SAN/NAS storage systems.
- Good understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, firewalls)
- Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and Microsoft 365 services.
- Certifications such as AWS/Azure Architect, or similar are a plus.
- Preferred Skills:
- Strong understanding of ITIL, Agile, and SRE principles.
- Experience with hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

The pay for this role ranges from $108,000-$155,000 annually and is based on the position responsibilities and geographic location. Actual pay within this range may be determined based on the candidate's experience, qualifications, and/or other determining factors.
