Job description
This position is for our Chicago, IL facility. Terminal Operations Managers are the front-line operating authority and are responsible for the day-to-day operations/activities of the facility. They provide supervision and direction to all operations employees. They ensure that all operations schedules required by the customer are met 100% of the time. They also oversee quality and efficiency of transportation associates; equipment utilization and revenue goals and adherence to MCC's policies, procedures, and DOT regulations.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Responsible for dispatching company drivers for pick-up and delivery of shipments through the railyards & depots in Chicago, IL
- Meet customer requirements; ensure productivity levels are reached in an effective and efficient manner and maintaining quality performance objectives.
- Provide supervision and direction to all operations employees.
- Follow and enforce company policies and procedures.
- Responsible for administrative activities, development/monitoring of KPI and implementing continuous improvement opportunities.
- Provide on-site management and company representation to the customer.
- Ensures employees are following proper work instructions in their assigned areas.
- Counsels and uses progressive corrective action processes when disciplining employees.
- Remains current with changes and operating procedures within assigned areas.
- Perform driver safety rides (process walk).
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:
- Working knowledge of Chicago Drayage railyard & depots
- Minimum of 5 years working knowledge of 20/40/53' containers within in the Chicago market
- Working knowledge of Trinium operating system
- Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
- Ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees.
- Must have very good interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with customers and employees.
- Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize in demanding environments with tight deadlines.
This position is Full time, Monday - Friday. Must be able to work overtime and occasional Saturdays.
