Role Description
This is a full-time role for a Transportation Manager based in Duluth, GA, The Transportation Manager will oversee daily transportation operations, manage fleet logistics, and ensure efficient and timely deliveries. They will monitor compliance with regulations, collaborate with internal teams, maintain customer relationships, and implement improvements to optimize transportation processes. The role includes supervising staff and working with vendors as needed to support effective transportation management.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of professional experience in supply chain or equivalent experience
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Verification of employment eligibility will be required at time of hire
- Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
- 10+ years experience with Specialty Freight types
- 7+ years experience with 3PL's or large-scale logistics operations
- 7+ years experience with logistics of metals
- Advanced experience with business intelligence and analytic tools
- Demonstrated success developing and delivering complex distribution strategies
- Operations Management and Transportation Management expertise, with an understanding of logistics and regulatory compliance
- Proficiency in Fleet Management, including scheduling, maintenance oversight, and cost optimization
- Strong Customer Service skills with a focus on maintaining positive relationships
- Excellent Communication skills, including verbal and written communication, and team coordination
- Proven leadership abilities and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS) is a plus
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
Responsibilities:
- The Transportation Manager will drive successful execution of a company-wide transportation program, while propelling continuous improvement activity and strategic logistics initiatives.
- Ensure Transportation department culture is focused on people, safely and service through engagement with transportation leaders and associates.
- Responsible for lane management of inbound and outbound transportation costs, shipment visibility and reporting
- Support day-to-day operations, including problem solving with Shipping and Project Management teams regarding daily issues
- Serve as help chain for escalating issues with carriers when needed
- Standardize and/or create metrics to quantify performance and identify levers requiring attention
- Accountable to optimize transportation across the network including shipping methods, and freight and lane types
- Participate in cross-functional activities focused on solving business issues
- Develop and execute a strategic roadmap to enhance transportation Management System.
- Maintain an up-to-date understanding of transportation engineering standards and best practices
