The Senior Quality Engineer supports precision manufacturing operations through hands-on metrology, inspection, and measurement of components, primarily for aerospace applications. This role ensures compliance with quality standards, drives root cause analysis, performs supplier audits, and collaborates closely with engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing teams.

Pay Rate: $85,000 – $95,000 annually
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform advanced dimensional inspections of precision components using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, optical comparators, and multi-sensor measurement systems.
- Develop, review, and improve inspection methods, measurement plans, and work instructions.
- Conduct measurement system evaluations, including Gage R&R and uncertainty analyses.
- Lead First Article Inspections (FAI) and customer-required inspection documentation (e.g., AS9102).
- Investigate measurement-related nonconformances and support corrective actions.
- Interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to inspectors and engineers.
- Drive root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (RCCA, 8D, DMAIC) for supplier issues.
- Review supplier documentation, including FAI and SCAR responses.
- Collaborate with design and manufacturing engineers on supplier-related performance, reliability, or manufacturability issues.
- Monitor supplier performance metrics and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform supplier audits (on-site and remote) as required.
- Travel to supplier sites as needed (typically 10–25%).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Strong understanding of dimensional metrology and best practices.
- Experience interpreting complex drawings and GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
- Proficient in documentation and quality records management.
- Knowledge of MIL-STD requirements for aerospace electronics.
- Analytical, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to influence suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Familiarity with ITAR data handling (without requiring a license).
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related field) or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in metrology, quality inspection, or dimensional measurement within precision manufacturing.
- Experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing preferred.
- Knowledge of RF, microwave, or precision electronic components a plus.
- Working knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, and AS9102 FAI requirements.
Physical Requirements & Working Environment:
- Combination of office and manufacturing floor environments.
- May involve standing, working around machinery, and wearing PPE.
- Some light lifting may be required.
