We are seeking an experienced Commercial HVAC Estimator to prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial HVAC projects. The ideal candidate will analyze drawings, specifications, and project requirements to develop detailed bids while collaborating with project managers, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure profitable and timely project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents for commercial HVAC projects
- Perform detailed material takeoffs for HVAC systems, including ductwork, piping, equipment, and controls
- Prepare accurate cost estimates, proposals, and bid packages
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing
- Identify project risks, scope gaps, and value-engineering opportunities
- Work closely with project managers and operations to ensure smooth project handoff
- Maintain estimating databases, pricing updates, and historical cost records
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site walks as needed
- Meet bid deadlines while maintaining accuracy and profitability
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience estimating commercial HVAC projects (office, healthcare, education, retail, industrial, etc.)
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, equipment, codes, and installation practices
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Trimble, FastPIPE, Bluebeam, Planswift, Excel)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Mechanical or construction management background
- Experience with design-build and plan-spec projects
- Knowledge of local codes and commercial construction practices
