The City of Wilmer is a rapidly growing suburb located 15 minutes from downtown Dallas. Wilmer is a global distribution hub and hosts an intermodal facility. New residential projects are currently underway providing small town affordable housing within minutes of big town arts, sports, and entertainment venues.
ABOUT THE POSITIONS
Performs a variety of highly technical and specialized tasks involving and/or related to fire suppression, emergency medical services, rescues, hazardous materials incidents, fire prevention, fire inspections, administration, and other special assignments as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent, preferable supplemented by college level courses in Fire Science
- Current on all TDSHS requirements for paramedic certification
- Current on all TCFP requirements for all certifications.
- Must possess a current valid driver’s license with a good driving record and be eligible to hold a valid Texas Class B Exempt Driver’s License and obtain that license within twelve (12) months of employment
- Must possess the following certifications
- Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) Basic Firefighter
- Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) Paramedic
- Paramedic only will be required to complete Fire Certification within 18 months.
Hiring preference will be given to Firefighter/Paramedic.
