Position Summary
The Shipping & Receiving Lead plays a critical role in ensuring materials move accurately, efficiently, and safely through the facility. This position is responsible for overseeing incoming and outgoing shipments, coordinating dock activities, supporting production schedules, and serving as the primary backup to the Shipping/Receiving Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive incoming materials in accordance with defined procedures, ensuring accuracy and quality
- Coordinate shipping needs with Contracts, Production Control, Quality, and Production teams
- Pack and prepare outgoing shipments to prevent damage during transit
- Load outgoing freight and arrange transportation with freight carriers
- Maintain a clean, organized shipping office, dock area, and warehouse
- Monitor and manage shipping/receiving supplies
- Perform preventive maintenance on forklifts and operate power equipment safely
- Assist staff with moving heavy materials manually or using equipment
- Back up the Shipping/Receiving Supervisor and support all dock operations
- Step in as needed to support receiving, shipping, warehouse, or other departments
Job Requirements
- Clear and effective communication skills (verbal and written, English required)
- Strong computer skills and data entry proficiency
- High attention to detail with excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work overtime, including weekends, holidays, and during peak workload periods
- Experience operating stand-up forklifts (reach trucks), forklifts, and power tools
- Self-motivated with a continuous improvement mindset
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work with both internal teams and external partners
- Documented U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident status
Physical Requirements
Must be able to hear, see, speak/write English, walk, bend, stoop, climb stairs, sit or stand for extended periods, reach, grab, keyboard, file, and lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of inbound/outbound dock operations experience
- This is a lead-level role—candidates must be capable of backing up the supervisor and possess advanced skills in computer systems, power equipment, and shipping/receiving operations
