The Bridge Engineer Project Manager (PE) will lead the planning, design, and delivery of bridge and structural transportation projects. This role requires strong technical expertise in structural engineering, excellent client-facing skills, and the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams while ensuring high-quality, cost-effective project outcomes.
Essential Functions
Leadership & Project Management
- Lead and manage bridge design projects from concept through construction.
- Oversee project schedules, budgets, deliverables, and client communication.
- Coordinate with roadway, geotechnical, hydraulic, and environmental teams to deliver integrated solutions.
Technical Oversight & Design
- Prepare and review structural calculations, load rating analyses, plans, specifications, and engineering reports.
- Ensure adherence to applicable codes, standards, and DOT requirements.
- Provide technical guidance to engineering staff and ensure quality control on all structural deliverables.
Client & Stakeholder Interaction
- Serve as primary point of contact for bridge projects, leading client meetings and design workshops.
- Support proposal development, scope creation, and fee estimation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with transportation agencies and engineering partners.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and safety standards.
- Conduct internal QA reviews and assist with developing structural design best practices.
- Continuous Improvement
- Stay current with emerging bridge technologies, materials, and design methodologies.
- Promote process improvements and innovative design practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master’s preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- 8+ years of experience in bridge/structural design and project management.
- Proficiency with structural analysis programs (e.g., LEAP Bridge, LARSA, SAP2000) and CAD platforms (AutoCAD, MicroStation).
- Strong knowledge of AASHTO LRFD, DOT standards, and construction methods.
