Systems Administrator – Windows

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Systems Administrator – Windows to support a mission-critical federal program. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Windows Server technologies, Active Directory, scripting, and hybrid cloud solutions, and will play a key role in designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing Windows-based environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strong knowledge and proficiency (~10+ years of experience) with on-premises Active Directory, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), User Account Management, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6 addressing, Windows Desktop and Server Administration, Certificate Services, and Windows Server Failover Cluster (WSFC).
- Design, implement, and maintain Windows Server environments (2016-2022), ensuring their reliability, security, and optimal performance.
- Manage and optimize Active Directory and IIS configurations to support operational requirements.
- Create, implement, maintain, troubleshoot, and utilize advanced PowerCLI and PowerShell scripts to automate repetitive tasks, enhance system functionalities, and troubleshoot issues. Must also be comfortable performing Administration and O&M tasks from the command line.
- Design, implement, and manage a comprehensive disaster recovery and backup strategy utilizing hybrid cloud solutions such as CommVault Metallic Backups.
- Perform administration, management, troubleshooting and deployment of operating system updates/upgrades, security patches, and software to Windows 10/11 desktops and Windows Servers 2016/2019/2022 in both physical and virtualized environments.
- Maintain detailed documentation for system designs, configurations, processes, and service records.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support IT infrastructure projects, providing expert guidance and technical leadership.
- Lead and mentor junior team members in best practices and technical challenges.
- Troubleshoot and resolve LAN/WAN connections, performance/throughput issues, and other related network problems.
- Analyze development and implementation requirements and make appropriate modifications to existing systems and prepare specifications based on customer requests.
- Ensure compliance with security hardening framework standards and regulations from Center for Internet Security (CIS) Control 4, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication 800-53 Revision 5, and Defense Information Systems Agency’s (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- 10+ years of experience in Information Technology, with a focus on Windows systems administration.
- Current Microsoft certification (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, Identity and Access Administrator Associate, Cybersecurity Architect Expert, or higher).
- Strong scripting skills in PowerShell/PowerCLI.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
