Job Title: Quality Engineer
Location: Elk Grove Village, IL
Pay: $80,000 - $95,000
Shift: 1st Shift
Summary
Support the organization's Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance with Aerospace & Defense specifications and internal requirements.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Provide engineering support to optimize workflows and troubleshoot quality-related issues.
- Interface with internal teams and external partners to fulfill organizational objectives and customer expectations.
- Ensure adherence to internal policies and procedures supporting AS9100 and Nadcap compliance standards.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives in a collaborative, team-based environment.
- Develop, track, and maintain process metrics to monitor performance.
- Collaborate with customers and suppliers to resolve quality concerns.
- Support root cause analysis efforts and assist in developing and implementing corrective actions; administer training when necessary.
- Analyze trends in non-conformances to assess the effectiveness of corrective measures.
- Assist in the planning, execution, and follow-up of internal and external quality audits.
- Adhere to safety regulations and actively contribute to a safe workplace.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements and Skills:
- Engineering or technical degree, or equivalent practical experience, required.
- Familiarity with Six Sigma methodology, Lean manufacturing principles, and continuous improvement tools; ASQ certification is a plus.
- Hands-on experience in a production or manufacturing environment; experience in Special Processing is preferred.
- Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems, particularly ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100:2016, is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), and First Article Inspection (FAI) requirements.
- Skilled in root cause problem-solving techniques such as 8D, A3, DMAIC, and 5 Whys, and capable of providing technical assistance in resolution.
- Experience using various software systems including ERPs, MRPs, CRMs, SQL databases, Microsoft Office, and engineering design tools.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrated experience in quantitative data analysis, measurement systems, and reporting.
- Ability to write technical reports and procedures effectively.
- Proficient in interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
- Advanced computer literacy is preferred.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
