About the Role:
Job Title: Process Engineer
Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented, observant, and self-motivated Process Engineer to join our dynamic team at Labs. The successful candidate will be responsible for execution, development, and optimization of innovative physicochemical processes that are core to delivering transformative optical materials for AR/VR applications. You will join an agile team that is laser-focused on incubating winning prototypes and establishing new process capabilities with supply-chain partners. This role involves hands-on laboratory work, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and contributing to continuous process improvements.
Responsibilities
- Handle, prepare, and process organic materials and solutions in a laboratory setting, while observing all safety protocols.
- Implement complex standard operating procedures with precision and efficiency, remaining attentive to detail to detect subtle differences that impact process effectiveness.
- Design experiments to evaluate process feasibility and optimize process parameters.
- Identify and resolve issues in electromechanical systems and equipment used in laboratory processes, involving collaboration with engineering teams.
- Collect, document, and analyze data from laboratory experiments and processes; prepare reports and present findings to relevant stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to material innovation.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
- 4+ years of experience in process development.
- Laboratory experience in handling organic chemicals and solvents, and use of relevant laboratory equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to perform design of experiment (DOE) and data analysis.
- Excellent data handling, documentation, and organization skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in relevant degree with background in process development.
- Knowledge of organic chemistry, crystallization process, and transport phenomena.
- Experience with optical metrology and refractive index measurements, e.g. prism coupler.
- Experience with slicing, dicing of a material using diamond wire saw.
- Experience with polishing with mechanical/chemical polishing methods.
- Automating lab equipment using LabVIEW or Java/Python codes.

Location: Redmond, WA
Salary Range: The salary for this position is between $60/Hr – $70/Hr. Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
