About the Role:
Title: Systems Administrator
Location: Onsite/Redmond, WA
Typical Day in the Role
Purpose of the Team:
Supports company test facility operations by managing systems infrastructure, ensuring network stability, and maintaining secure environments for technical projects.
Key Projects:
- Administration of Windows Server and Linux environments.
- Network configuration and troubleshooting (IP addressing, DHCP, VLANs).
- Documentation and monitoring tasks for system performance.
Typical Task Breakdown & Operating Rhythm:
On-site presence in Redmond, 40-hour workweek (flexible start times, but standard expectation is 8 AM).
- Daily system checks, network maintenance, and responding to technical issues.
- Collaborating with team members for updates and reporting.
- Maintaining accurate documentation and supporting hardware requirements.
- Review system alerts, tickets, and overnight logs.
- Verify network and server health status.
- Configure switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Assign IP addresses, VLANs, and DHCP/DNS settings.
- Test network connectivity and device communication.
- Image new servers using MDT, WDS, or PXE environments.
- Apply OS updates, patches, and baseline configurations.
- Join servers to the domain and validate access.
- Troubleshoot imaging or network configuration issues.
- Maintain and update network diagrams and documentation.
- Coordinate with team members or vendors on active deployments.
- Back up configuration files and verify successful backups.
- Prepare notes and plans for upcoming installs or maintenance tasks.
Candidate Requirements
- Years of Experience Required: 0–2 years (Level 1 role, ideal for early-career professionals).
Degrees or Certifications Required: None mandatory; CCNA and certifications are nice-to-have. Military technical experience is a plus.
Disqualifiers:
Inability to work on-site in Redmond.
Lack of fundamental understanding of systems administration and networking basics.
Best vs. Average:
Best: Candidate with hands-on experience in OS administration, strong documentation skills, and eagerness to learn.
Average: Candidate with minimal exposure to OS environments and limited networking knowledge.
Top 3 Hard Skills Required + Years of Experience
- Operating Systems (Windows Server, Linux variants) – Minimum 1 year.
- Network Fundamentals (IP addressing, DHCP, VLANs) – Minimum 1 year.
- Documentation & Communication Skills – Minimum 1 year.

Salary Range: $ 72,800 - 82,800 Annually - Factors that may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
