Job Purpose
The Logistics Coordinator role will handle all aspects of freight and logistics for Meristem Ag. You will play a critical role in overseeing daily load activities while maintaining a high level of customer service to continuously exceed our customers’ expectations. The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, tracking, and reporting various logistic activities including inter-company transfers, return material authorizations, inventory counts, preparing freight claims and other key processes as assigned by the Supply Chain Supervisor. The Logistics Coordinator is a key liaison between the sales, supply chain planning, transportation, and customer service. The incumbent supports overall logistics department and serves as backup for other positions within the department including Supply Chain Manager, customer service, operations.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining logistics supplier relationships while reducing transportation cost.
• Track KPI’s for logistics area and implement continuous improvement initiatives
• Understand the orders to cash process
• Schedule all shipments including customer shipments, warehouse transfers, raw material stocking and imports
• Comply with all regulations, laws, policies, and DOT requirements
• Manage and process freight claims
• Negotiate and onboard with new carriers
• Track/trace location on all shipments
• Communication daily with drivers, brokers and manager
• Verify and report accessorial charges
• Collect any logistical documents needed
• Operate TMS system and implement RFP’s with carriers to secure best prices
• Handle domestic transportation as well as international shipments
• Manage and distribute daily logistics reports to internal stakeholders
• Cross train and act as the backup for the Transportation Planner and Production Planner
• Perform other duties as assigned by management
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field preferred
- 3+ years of experience in logistics, or supply chain coordination required
- Proficiency in logistics software, Microsoft Office Suite, and TMS platform
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, independently
- Knowledge of domestic and international shipping regulations and documentation
