Main Responsibilities
- Oversee all product movement for the Southern Division Distribution Center.
- Supervisor up to 100 drivers and direct the workforce as needed daily.
- Coordination of transportation operations with Distribution Center.
- Fostering supportive and communicative relationship with Retail Partners and the Distribution Center.
- Management off all Transportation Operations.
- Provide superior service to retail stores through on-time delivery and timely return of salvage.
- Provide a safe work environment for all employees.
- Proven ability to manage employee relations (policy, discipline, evaluation, leadership).
- Responsible for profit and loss of Transportation Department including employee costs, equipment, and facilities.
- Develop budgetary and departmental goals.
- Implement cost-saving measures within the department.
- Keep abreast of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations; ensure all employees and equipment are in DOT compliance.
- Optimize the utilization of equipment and staffing in a dynamic environment.
- Execute corporate vision and foster a lean distribution, continuous improvement environment.
We Are Looking For Candidates Who Possess The Following
- 4-year college degree in Logistics or Business preferred.
- 5-10 years management level experience in Distribution / Transportation.
- Proven experience sourcing and coordinating backhauls.
- Expert knowledge and experience in operating within the guidelines of DOT, OSHA, Health
- Department, and other regulatory agencies.
- Expert knowledge of DOT regulations.
- Expert use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access and associated applications is strongly preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of transportation related software including routing optimization software; truck on-board computer software (XATA); dispatch / routing software (Prospero), XRS electronic log, and JJ Keller.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to manage effectively in a team environment, motivating and inspiring to employees.
- Strong leadership, able to be motivating and inspiring to employees. A mentor and resource.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, a dedicated listener and communicator.
- Strong organizational skills, utilizes discretionary effort daily to improve performance and create efficiencies.
- Proven track record of cost reduction and increased productivity.
- Creative problem solver with strong follow through.
