SUMMARY:
The Mechanical Systems Design Engineer is responsible for the design, development, testing, and continuous improvement of mechanical systems, assemblies, and products. This role works closely with transforming customer and business requirements into manufacturable engineering solutions through design, analysis, validation, documentation and product lifecycle support. This position supports product development initiatives, engineering change management, continuous improvement activities, and technical problem-solving efforts across the organization.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and develop mechanical systems, assemblies, and components utilizing 3D CAD software
- Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), and technical documentation
- Perform engineering calculations, simulations, and analysis to validate designs and support engineering decisions
- Conducts DFMEA, risk assessment, root cause analysis, safety evaluations, etc.
- Develop and evaluate design concepts for manufacturability, reliability, serviceability, and cost effectiveness
- Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, engineering requirements, safety regulations, and customer specifications
- Support project schedules, deliverables, and engineering milestones
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation and revision control
- Support prototype development, testing, and product validation activities
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for design-related issues
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to support product launches, production improvements, and engineering changes
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and engineering validation activities
- Perform finite element analysis (FEA), structural evaluations, and engineering simulations
- Support value engineering and cost reduction initiatives and participate in continuous improvement projects and Lean Manufacturing initiatives
- Support troubleshooting of field issues and customer technical concerns
- Assist with installation support, startup activities, or equipment commissioning efforts as needed
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering disciplines with a minimum of 3 years of applicable design engineering experience. Proficiency required, include:
- CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor, AutoCAD, or equivalent
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, manufacturing processes, and GD&T. Design of mechanical systems, assemblies, and engineered products.
- Experience performing engineering calculations, design validation, and engineering analysis
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
