Job Summary
The Utility Foreman supervises and coordinates the daily activities of utility crews engaged in the installation, maintenance, and repair of underground and above-ground utility systems. This role ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead field crews in utility construction and maintenance work
- Plan daily work activities and assign tasks to crew members
- Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and utility maps
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies
- Coordinate with project managers, inspectors, and subcontractors
- Monitor job progress and adjust schedules as needed
- Operate or oversee operation of heavy equipment when required
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools and equipment
- Conduct site inspections to ensure quality and safety standards
- Train and mentor crew members
- Maintain daily reports, logs, and documentation
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in utility construction or related field
- Knowledge of underground utilities (water, sewer, storm, gas)
- Ability to read construction drawings and specifications
- Valid driver’s license (CDL may be required)
Certifications (Preferred)
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
- CPR/First Aid
- Confined Space Training
- Trenching & Excavation Safety Certification
