Transportation Supervisor
Location: Memphis
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM
Reports To: Distribution Center Manager

The Transportation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing nightly transportation operations for a multi-route delivery network based in Memphis. This role supervises approximately 8 drivers to ensure safe, efficient, and on-time deliveries.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, operationally driven, and customer-focused with strong communication skills and experience optimizing transportation routes, improving service levels, and reducing operating costs. This role serves as a key communication bridge between transportation, warehouse operations, customer service, sales, and third-party logistics partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support 8 delivery drivers and transportation associates during nightly operations
- Coordinate dispatch activities, route execution, and delivery schedules to ensure on-time performance and customer satisfaction
- Manage daily communication with the onsite 3PL/LTL partner and onsite supervisor to align transportation priorities and resolve service issues
- Monitor driver productivity, route compliance, safety performance, and DOT adherence
- Utilize Omnitracs Roadnet to plan, adjust, and optimize delivery routes and fleet utilization
- Identify opportunities to improve routing efficiency, reduce transportation costs, increase truck utilization, and improve service levels
- Partner cross-functionally with warehouse, customer service, sales, and operations teams to proactively address delivery challenges and customer needs
- Serve as the primary evening transportation contact for escalations, delivery issues, and operational problem-solving
- Assist in identifying opportunities to add new customers, improve delivery coverage, and support business growth initiatives
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, company safety standards, and transportation policies
- Support driver staffing needs including scheduling, attendance management, coaching, training, and performance management
- Conduct transportation audits, monitor KPIs, and maintain accurate operational records and reporting
- Assist with equipment oversight and coordination of truck maintenance needs
Key Requirements
- 3+ years of transportation, logistics, or distribution supervisory experience
- CDL Class A required
- Experience with Transportation Management Systems such as Roadnet desired
- Experience supervising drivers in a delivery or distribution environment
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations, fleet operations, routing, and transportation safety practices
- Experience working with third-party logistics (3PL) and LTL transportation providers
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills across operations, customers, and leadership teams
- Demonstrated ability to improve operational efficiency and reduce transportation costs
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and transportation reporting tools
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced evening operation
