The Onsite Quality Engineer will design, develop, test, and evaluate integrated systems for managing industrial production processes, including human work factors, quality control, inventory control, logistics and material flow, cost analysis, and production coordination.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct experiments to determine specific factors causing internal and external defects, with the goal of lowering maintaining an external ppm of 350 and progressively make sustainable improvements to achieve 0 ppm.
- Work with engineering department to develop and implement solutions to problems and capitalize on continuous improvement opportunities.
- Develop return on investment and prioritize improvements.
- Develop a corrective action for defects, including 8D problem solving or customer formatted SCAR process for escapes, or management of A3 projects for internal defects.
- Work with production and engineering management to ensure corrective actions are completed on time, are effective, and are sustained.
- Develop a schedule for internal audits related to quality checks and corrective actions.
- Conduct internal audits of quality procedures, request corrective actions for nonconformances and follow up audits conducted to ensure corrective actions implemented and effective.
- Ensure procedures are updated and distributed when required; support best practices regarding documents control.
- Manage the execution of tests to determine if hypothesized solutions address root cause—synthesize findings and integrate into control plans, and ensure that SOPs and FEMAs are updated by the responsible party.
- Work with engineering department to develop FMEA's and control plans on new product, components and processes.
- Develop and implement training program for management staff and hourly employees in statistical techniques and problem solving.
- Conduct quality training classes to include one point lessons to address daily quality defects or escapes.
- Develop criteria for and oversee pilot runs for engineering and process changes and determine if successful.
- Coordinate with engineering and departments to maintain and update cpk of processes during NPI start up and 4ME changes.
- Become educated in ISO registration and procedures.
- Support company efforts in maintaining ISO registration by obtaining Auditor certification and supporting the implementation of an internal audit team/cadence and required procedures within plant to assure registration.
- Assist in resolving supplier quality problems.
- Work with supply chain manager and procurement to request corrective action from suppliers for nonconforming material.
- Support the establish of incoming/internal quality inspection lab and associated procedures/training.
- Assist engineering and production departments in productivity related projects.
- Assume ownership of assigned productivity projects and follow through until completion.
Essential Functions:

- Direct efforts in obtaining/maintaining ISO registration.
- Manage quality training for current/new employees.
- Develop and maintain corrective action request to improve internal/external quality.

Position Supervised or Directed:
Reports to Quality Manager.
Educational/Training Requirements:
Degree/Diploma Obtained: Associates’ degree in a technical field with at least 4 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelors degree in an engineering or technical field.

Certificates/Licenses/Registration: Lean Six Sigma Certification is a desirable.

Three years of related experience.
Work Environment:
Combination of office and manufacturing plant environment.
After an introductory period, the role will frequently transition to a
swing shift schedule to effectively support and train off-shift personnel, generally from
11:00 to 8:00 PM, with occasional extended evening coverage as business needs require.
