Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and security-focused IT Systems Manager to support and maintain the technology infrastructure of a growing neurology healthcare organization. This role is responsible for the management, maintenance, and security of core IT systems including electronic medical records (EMR), Microsoft 365, backup systems, networking infrastructure, and endpoint management.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in healthcare IT environments, understand HIPAA compliance requirements, possess a proactive cybersecurity mindset, and demonstrate strong organizational skills with a heavy focus on documentation and process standardization.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure & Systems Management
- Manage and support Microsoft 365 environment including:
- Exchange Online
- Entra ID (Azure AD)
- Teams
- SharePoint
- MFA and Conditional Access
- Manage Windows servers, endpoints, user accounts, permissions, and group policies
- Monitor system performance, uptime, and overall infrastructure health
- Assist with workstation deployment, imaging, patching, and lifecycle management
EMR & Clinical Systems Support
- Support and maintain AthenaOne EMR operations across clinical and administrative departments
- Troubleshoot EMR-related issues including:
- User access
- Printing/scanning workflows
- Interfaces and integrations
- Provider workflows
- SSO/MFA access
- Coordinate with Athena Health support and third-party vendors when necessary
- Assist with EMR onboarding/offboarding processes for providers and staff
- Support EMR-related hardware and workflows within clinical environments
- Maintain documentation and SOPs related to AthenaOne operational workflows and support procedures
- Work with leadership to ensure EMR uptime, performance, and security best practices are maintained
Network Administration
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Meraki network infrastructure including:
- Firewalls
- Switches
- Wireless access points
- VPN connectivity
- Monitor network performance and security events
- Maintain secure remote access solutions for providers and staff
Backup & Disaster Recovery
- Administer and monitor backup systems
- Perform backup verification and restoration testing
- Maintain disaster recovery documentation and procedures
- Ensure backup retention policies align with organizational requirements
Security & Compliance
- Maintain HIPAA-compliant IT operations and security practices
- Implement and monitor cybersecurity best practices including:
- Endpoint protection
- MFA
- Email security
- Vulnerability remediation
- Patch management
- Participate in security audits, risk assessments, and compliance initiatives
- Assist with incident response and remediation efforts
- Maintain documentation related to policies, procedures, and system configurations
Documentation & Process Improvement
- Develop, maintain, and improve SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and technical documentation
- Create clear documentation for:
- Infrastructure configurations
- Network topology
- Backup and recovery procedures
- User onboarding/offboarding
- Security processes
- Vendor management
- EMR support workflows
- Assist in building operational maturity through standardized IT processes and documentation practices
- Ensure critical institutional knowledge is documented and transferable
End User Support
- Provide Tier 1/ Tier 2/Tier 3 technical support to clinical and administrative staff
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, connectivity, and application issues
- Support physicians and clinical staff in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Communicate technical issues and resolutions clearly to non-technical users
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of Systems Management experience
- Experience supporting Microsoft 365 in a business environment
- Experience with Meraki networking products
- Experience with backup and disaster recovery platforms such as Macrium
- Understanding of HIPAA, cybersecurity, and healthcare IT best practices
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Experience with Windows operating systems and Active Directory/Entra ID
- Strong documentation and process creation experience
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in healthcare or medical practice environments
- Experience supporting AthenaOne or other EMR/EHR systems
- Familiarity with:
- Microsoft Defender or endpoint security platforms
- Email security platforms
- VPN technologies
- Microsoft Intune or MDM solutions
Preferred Certifications
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
- CompTIA Security+ or higher-level security certifications
- Meraki Networking Certifications
