Summary
Berkshire Home Pros, Inc. is seeking an experienced Lead Carpenter to oversee residential construction and renovation projects while performing advanced carpentry work in the field. This role combines hands-on carpentry with job site leadership, crew supervision, workflow coordination, quality control, and safety oversight.
The ideal candidate is a highly skilled carpenter with strong leadership abilities, excellent problem-solving skills, and extensive knowledge of residential construction methods, sequencing, and finish quality standards. This individual must be capable of independently managing active job sites, coordinating personnel and subcontractors, maintaining production schedules, and making informed field decisions with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise Carpenters and Apprentice Carpenters on active job sites
- Coordinate daily workflow, labor allocation, material needs, and project sequencing
- Execute and oversee all phases of carpentry work, including framing, exterior detailing, weatherproofing, drywall, trim, and finish carpentry
- Interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents to ensure accurate execution of work
- Maintain responsibility for overall workmanship and quality control, ensuring all work meets company standards and project specifications
- Communicate regularly with Project Management regarding project progress, scheduling, field conditions, and material needs
- Coordinate work activities with subcontractors and other trades to maintain project efficiency and timelines
- Make informed field decisions when plans are incomplete or site conditions change while maintaining project integrity and production flow
- Identify and resolve field, personnel, and production issues proactively and professionally
- Train, mentor, and develop crew members while maintaining accountability and productivity standards
- Maintain safe, clean, and organized job sites in compliance with company safety protocols
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment safely and effectively
- Assist with material ordering, equipment coordination, and job site logistics as needed
- Ensure adherence to company safety standards, including respiratory protection, fall protection, PPE requirements, and equipment safety protocols
Requirements
- Minimum 8 years of carpentry experience required
- Strong knowledge of residential construction methods, building systems, sequencing, and job site management
- Prior leadership or crew supervision experience required
- Ability to independently manage job sites and crews with minimal supervision
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction drawings
- Strong communication, organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Must possess own vehicle, valid driver’s license, and basic hand tools
- Ability to work outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions
- Ability to climb ladders, lift 50+ lbs., work overhead, and safely wear respirators and other PPE
- Proficiency with construction-related technology, documentation, and project communication tools preferred
Preferred Certifications & Experience
- Massachusetts Hoisting Engineer License
- Current Massachusetts Moderate Risk Deleader License
- EPA Lead-Safe Renovator Certification
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
- Experience operating lifts, skid steers, lulls, or similar construction equipment
- Experience with drywall, painting, demolition, and residential renovation work

Pay: Salary commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications
