Duties
Working as a Cloud Engineer in the Infrastructure Services Division of the Office of Information Systems Management (OISM) for the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Rockville, Maryland, you will perform the following duties: Manage, maintain, optimize, and troubleshoot Hybrid Cloud systems to include VMWare, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud systems. Provide technical leadership and oversight of the NIST Hybrid Cloud through workflow and service delivery automation, identification of operational issues, and prevention of service degradation. Represents the agency in high-stakes interactions with federal and private industry partners, defends complex cloud programs to achieve consensus, and integrates cloud capabilities with agency Service Level Objectives.
Qualifications
Applicants must have one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level (ZP-III at NIST). Specialized experience is defined as: Providing system administration and development for Hybrid Cloud Services. Installing, configuring, and maintaining components of a hybrid cloud ecosystem. Diagnosing and resolving systemic technical failures and emergent security vulnerabilities within a hybrid cloud environment. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
