About the Role
The Assistant Facilites Project Manager is responsible for the overall management and maintenance of a large commercial or federal facility. This role includes overseeing on-site staff, managing construction and alteration projects, and ensuring the facility operates efficiently, safely, and in full compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage on-site staff, including task assignment, training, and performance evaluation
- Oversee major and minor projects and alteration services, including budgeting, contractor coordination, and ensuring timely, on-budget completion
- Ensure efficient and safe facility operations, including maintenance planning, system inspections, and emergency response
- Collaborate with engineering leadership to support building systems and infrastructure
- Review and provide input on design intent and as-built drawings, and assist with cost estimating
- Develop bid specifications for deferred maintenance projects (e.g., roofing, paving, plumbing, electrical, HVAC)
- Oversee commissioning, architectural and engineering design services, and implementation for complex construction projects
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience (within the past 7 years) in engineering, construction, or design
- Experience managing large commercial or federal facilities (500,000+ sq. ft. preferred)
- Strong experience with CMMS, project management, and subcontractor oversight
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard business systems
- Ability to review design drawings and perform basic cost estimating
- Strong communication, analytical, and leadership skills
- Self-starter with the ability to multitask and work independently or as part of a team
- Ability to obtain a federal security clearance (HSPD-12 or equivalent)
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Frequent walking, standing, climbing, and facility inspections
- Prolonged computer use and detailed document review
- Exposure to varying noise levels, temperature conditions, and operational environments
- Schedule flexibility required for emergencies and special events
- On-site position (no remote work)

Pay: $110,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
