OVERVIEW
We are currently seeking an outstanding Research Associate I to join a well-known client in South San Francisco, CA. This role supports drug discovery and development programs through analytical characterization of synthetic molecule drug substances and delivery systems, including small molecules, peptides, and oligonucleotides. The Research Associate I will work in a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, applying state-of-the-art analytical technologies to drive innovation and scientific excellence across discovery, pharmaceutics, and process chemistry.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Perform analytical characterization of synthetic molecule drug substances and delivery systems, including small molecules, peptides, and oligonucleotides.
• Develop and execute chiral and achiral HPLC methods to support compound analysis and method optimization.
• Conduct analytical testing, document studies in laboratory notebooks, and summarize, interpret, and report experimental data.
• Troubleshoot technical and analytical challenges independently and collaboratively.
• Support drug discovery, discovery pharmaceutics, and process chemistry teams in a multi-functional research environment.
• Evaluate and apply new analytical technologies to support evolving project needs.
• Utilize advanced analytical instrumentation, including UHPLC MS, multidimensional HPLC, GC, Karl Fischer (KF), UV, and CAD.
EXPERIENCE
• 0–3 years of pharmaceutical industry experience strongly preferred.
• Solid foundation in analytical chemistry with practical experience in chromatography (HPLC), including data handling and reporting.
• Familiarity with pharmaceutics, solid state characterization, and drug discovery is desirable.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment.
EDUCATION
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in chemistry, pharmaceutics, chemical engineering, or a related scientific discipline required.
