Position Overview
The Vice President of Engineering will lead all engineering and technical functions across Sesco's cement import, distribution and related building materials operations. This executive will drive technical excellence, optimize performance, support commercial strategy, and ensure operational scalability as the company continues its growth trajectory and operations.
Core Responsibilities
Engineering & Technical Leadership
- Lead all engineering and technical functions across all facilities and operations.
- Establish and enforce technical standards, specifications and quality benchmarks.
- Serve as the company's technical authority on facility design.
Project Management
- Provide deep expertise in project management.
- Demonstrate a proven track record of effectively leading large scale project execution.
- Ensure delivery on scope, budget and schedule.
- Design and develop marine dry bulk import terminals with vessel, conveyor, storage, rail and other capabilities.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Oversee QA/QC programs across all facilities.
- Ensure compliance with ASTM, ACI, DOT, and other regulatory standards.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives for quality and process control.
- Manage testing protocols, lab operations and third-party certifications.
Commercial & Customer Support
- Act as a technical advisor to key customer, including:
Contractors
Ready-mix producers
Developers
Distributors
- Support sales efforts through technical presentations, problem-solving, and relationship building.
- Assist in resolving field issues, product claims, and performance concerns.
Strategic Leadership
- Align engineering initiatives with overall business strategy and revenue goals.
- Support expansion into new markets, geographies, product lines and assets.
- Evaluate capital projects, infrastructure improvements, and technical capabilities.
- Contribute to executive decision-making as part of the leadership team.
- Support M&A due diligence on terminal assets.
Team Leadership & Development
- Build, lead and mentor a high performing engineering and technical team.
- Establish KPIs and performance metrics
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation and continuous improvement
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or related field required, Masters degree or advanced technical certification a plus
- 20+ years of experience in cement, concrete or building materials industry
- 10+ years in progressive leadership roles (most recently Director, VP or equivalent)
- Deep knowledge of cement manufacturing, distribution or technical application
- Strong understanding of ASTM, ACI and construction material standards
- Experience supporting both operations and commercial teams
- Familiarity with Gulf Coast/Texas construction markets
