Position Overview
The Director of Supply Chain will lead and scale all aspects of supply chain strategy and execution across a growing import and distribution platform. This executive will oversee procurement, international sourcing, logistics, inventory management, and distribution of dry bulk, ensuring alignment with objectives and targets. This role is critical to optimizing cost structure, improving service levels, and building a resilient, scalable supply chain to support continued growth.
Core Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop/execute a complete supply chain strategy aligned with company goals
- Build scalable infrastructure to support expansion to new markets/product lines
- Partner with leadership on long term planning, forecasting and capacity strategy
- Drive cost optimization initiatives across sourcing, freight, and inventory
Procurement & Sourcing
- Oversee global sourcing strategy for cementitious materials and related products
- Manage supplier relationships, contract negotiations, and pricing agreements
- Evaluate and onboard international supplies, particularly in LATM, Europe and Asia
- Monitor commodity markets and mitigate pricing volatility
Logistics & Transportation
- Lead inbound ocean freight, port operations, drayage, rail, and trucking strategy
- Optimize transportation networks to reduce cost and improve delivery timelines
- Manage relationships with freight forwarders, carriers, and 3PL partners
- Ensure efficient coordination between ports, terminals, and distribution points
Inventory & Demand Planning
- Implement best practices in demand forecasting and inventory optimization
- Balance working capital efficiency with service level expectations
- Oversee S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) processes
- Reduce stockouts, excess inventory and obsolescence
Operations & Distribution
- Oversee terminal operations, storage facilities, and distribution network performance
- Improve throughput, turnaround times, and operational efficiency
- Ensure alignment between supply chain, sales, and customer delivery expectations
Systems, Process & Analytics
- Drive implementation or optimization of ERP, TMS, and inventory management systems
- Establish KPIs, dashboards, and reporting cadence across the supply chain
- Utilize data analytics to drive decision-making and continuous improvement
Risk Management & Compliance
- Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, including geopolitical, logistical, and supplier risks
- Ensure compliance with import/export regulations and environmental standards
- Develop contingency plans for supply disruptions
Team Leadership & Development
- Build, lead and mentor a high performing supply chain organization
- Establish KPIs and performance metrics
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation and continuous improvement
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in related field, masters degree is a plus
- 10+ years of progressive supply chain leadership experience
- Experience in cement, aggregates, building materials or heavy industrial distribution
- Strong background in global sourcing and logistics (import-heavy environment preferred)
- Proven experience managing multimodal transportation (ocean, rail, truck)
- Experience operating in a high-growth or evolving organization
- Prefer background in import terminal operations or port logistics, cement specific is preferred
- ERP/TMS implementation or optimization preferred
