Meta's Hardware engineers are at the forefront of innovation, driving the design and development of hardware systems that power the future of human connection. Across Infrastructure, Reality Labs, Robotics, and Research, our teams tackle complex challenges in consumer electronics, data centers, advanced robotics, opto-mechanical systems, and more. We bring together cross-disciplinary minds to invent, prototype, and deliver products and platforms that connect billions of people worldwide. As a Mechanical/Product Design Engineer, you are a technical authority and thought leader responsible for solving the most ambiguous hardware problems. You will lead major, cross-functional initiatives, setting technical direction and driving engineering across the broader organization. This role is for someone who can operate in a complex problem spaces, invent novel solutions, and act as a force multiplier by mentoring other engineers and influencing long-term functional strategy.
Product Design Engineer Responsibilities:
- Own the mechanical architecture for key research initiatives and/or entire products or product families. Lead the design of critical components and full systems, solving technical problems that few others in the organization can, and ensuring robust end-to-end product development and integration
- Proactively identify and solve critical, long-term, and often ambiguous problems that impact strategic objectives. Influence key leaders and functional strategy, and participate in the development of the organization's technical roadmap
- Act as a recognized and thought leader, sought out for advice across multiple teams. Create and leverage formal networks with key internal and external contacts. Recruit, onboard, and serve as a mentor to other engineers, elevating the entire team
