Duties
- Serve as a retail ammunition supply point (ASP) Ammunition Accountable Property Officer and Contracting Officer's Technical Representative.
- Ensure the stock record account and all associated conventional ammunition, missiles, and large rockets are properly managed and accounted for during requisition, receipt, storage, maintenance, surveillance, issue, turn-in, and shipment.
- Monitor ASP contractor to ensure forecasted training ammunition, munitions, and operational loads are requisitioned, received, stored, issued, retrograded, and residue processed.
- Ensure that items of munitions within area of responsibility are afforded the proper and required physical protection and security to ensure against loss through theft, damage or deterioration.
- Coordinate with ASP contractor for required and special inventories of stocks.
- Use supply systems to view automated reports and data to identify problems and make improvements in warehouse procedures.
- Provide technical guidance to ASP contractor in stock control activity administrative procedures to ensure accuracy and integrity of all accountable records.
- Review requests for issue of ammunition considering such factors as mixed ammunition, vehicle suitability, and accurate documentation completed, individual authorization, past history of the unit, and troop training dates.
- Evaluate the adequacy of contractor performance in ASP operations including stock control, accountability, maintenance, operation of automated systems.
- Serve as point of contact for external ammunition security and safety inspections.

- This position requires the ability to possess an adjudicated Tier 3 background investigation, for non-critical sensitive, moderate risk positions.
- This position requires the ability to successfully clear a local screening check on Department of the Army (DA) Form 7708, Personnel Reliability Screening and Evaluation.

- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
- The Lautenberg Amendment bans individuals convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence and certain others from possession or access to firearms or ammunition.
- Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
- This position requires the ability to complete training in accordance with AR 700-28, Ammunition Management and Department of the Army Pamphlet (DA PAM) 385-64, Ammunition and Explosives Safety Standards.
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain an ammunition certification within 180 days after hire date.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Conducting inventory on ammunition or explosives for accountability; 2) Handling ammunition, explosives, or related chemical agents in accordance with established safety and regulatory guidance; 3) Assisting with receiving, storage, issuing, and shipping for ammunition or explosives; and 4) Utilizing automated supply systems to document supply operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or another related field.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
